PARK INFRASTRUCTURE WORK COMPLETE
The latest phase of engineering work to develop Westlakes' infrastructure has been successfully completed by main contractor Thomas Armstrong . Recent aerial photography graphically illustrates how the full 130 acres of the Science Park has been opened up for future development with the construction of the one mile ring road and the creation of seven fully serviced plots. The project has included investment to reinforce the power supply onto the site, ensuring that there is sufficient capacity to accommodate the anticipated demand from expansion of businesses and employment in the coming years.
Lowther Forestry have started to landscape the ground around the development plots. Planting of some 25,000 trees, 12,000 shrubs and 12,000 bulbs plus 4,000 aquatic plants around three new ponds will be completed next summer, after which the new network of footpaths on the Park will be opened up to all Park users.
The landscape works form part of the larger £6M project funded by the European Union, the North West Development and the West Cumbria Development Fund.
