NUCLEAR DECOMMISSIONING AUTHORITY

HQ AT WESTLAKES SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY PARK

On 1st November 2004 the Secretary of State for Trade & Industry announced that the NDA's new headquarters building will be at Westlakes Science & Technology Park. A rigorous review by property agents had endorsed that the new offices offered the best proposition and location for the NDA to help fulfil their objectives for the nation's nuclear installations.

DGPi architects have taken advantage of a prime location to create an exceptional 23,000 sq. ft. facility incorporating contemporary design and construction features. Galemire Court has an impressive approach, fully glazed reception atrium, offices with raised computer flooring that allows optimum layout flexibility, a refectory area with adjoining balcony and an attractive south facing terrace. The building also has integral intruder alarms and CCTV security systems, as well as ample, dedicated car parking.

Main contractor, Border Construction, is approaching completion of their construction programme to hand over the new building to the NDA's vanguard team who will install their IT systems and furniture.

Westlakes Properties Chief Executive Officer, Tim Hirst , is delighted to welcome the NDA to the Science Park and is optimistic that the establishment of such a significant national organisation at Westlakes will be a key event in the further attraction of businesses and jobs to West Cumbria .
