Kelton House is the latest building to be completed at the rapidly expanding Westlakes Science & Technology Park near Whitehaven. Main contractor Border Construction Limited 's Contracts Manager Mark Paterson handed over the keys to Westlakes Properties Chief Executive Tim Hirst at a ceremony on 1 st August. The new 2,156m ² premises offer eleven office suites ranging from 90 – 400m ² , plus a fully equipped conference room.
Architects ‘ DGP International' have designed and created a spacious, ultra modern facility, with many of the offices enjoying spectacular panoramic views to the south and to the Lake District 's western fells.
Built on a speculative basis with funding from West Cumbria Development Fund, West Lakes Renaissance and European Regional Development Fund, it is hoped that this facility will provide accommodation for emerging new knowledge-based businesses.
Kelton House is the eleventh major building on the Science Park – the fifth to be completed in the last 18 months – and brings the total Park capacity to 24,200m ² .
Westlakes Science & Technology Park is home to 49 organisations with 1100 workers.
