Mission Statement

By 2020 the Westlakes Science & Technology Park will be the major, knowledge-based employment site and the focal point of higher education in West Cumbria. It will be an acknowledged Centre of Excellence in certain Scientific and Technological disciplines supported by universities with academic expertise and research of national and international significance. In particular, Westlakes will be home to a cluster of nuclear and other energy related organisations delivering expertise to service the nuclear industry, specifically in the fields of decommissioning and environmental restoration plus nuclear and renewable power generation. It will be a key provider of wealth and jobs for local people, contributing to sustainable economic growth.
